Officially April 22, Angelenos will be celebrating Earth Day all week with opportunities for festivities, clean-up, recycling and tree-planting.

In Burbank, a canyon cleanup will begin on Saturday noon (818-238-5440). On Saturday, April 26, 10-4, the boys and Girls Club of Venice will have a drop-off Recycle E-Waste at 2232 Lincoln Blvd. where one can crop off computers, monitors, TVs, printers, cell phones, VCRs and other electronics (no appliances or batteries). Star Eco Station in Culver City will host a Children’s Earth Day festival on Sunday, April 27 at 10101 W. Jefferson Blvd. (310-842-8060). In South Lost Angeles at 3650 Martin Luther King Blvd. this Saturday, an Earth Fest film festival and more is scheduled. Volunteers are need for planting trees at Rio De Los Angeles State Park, 1900 San Fernando Rod, 9-noon this Saturday (323-441-8634).

The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center will offer a five-week introduction to Ayurveda starting Monday, April 28, 7:00-8:30 p.m. and for five subsequent Mondays at 13325 Beach Ave., Marina del Rey, CA 90202.

Join Ayurveda teacher Jagatamba (Ione Linker) to explore your own unique constitution and how to keep it in balance through mind-body-spirit practices such as diet, yoga, meditation and other sense therapies. Both Ayurveda and Yoga originate from the Vedas, ancient sacred Indian texts.
