Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine has existed for over 2000 years...

Its earliest text, which is still in use today, is called the Huangdi Neijing and is believed to have been written around 500 BC.

A part of this system, Chinese herbal medicine, has made a big impact in the West. To traditional practitioners, this is good news and bad news. While Chinese herb are part of a whole system of healing, in the west, they've been adopted as substitute pills, with scientists extracting the active ingredients to suspress the symptoms of disease.

Chinese medicine, on the other hand, uses a combination of whole herbs to treat the person, not the disease. Chinese herbalism involves using herbs to treat and prevent mental, physical, and emotional ill health. Combined with acupuncture, it forms the bulk of Chinese medical treatment.
