Naturopathy

Naturopathy is an umbrella term for a multidisciplinary range of natural therapies focused on supporting the healing power of nature.

Such modalities can include acupuncture, herbalism, homeopathy, osteopathy, hydrotherapy, massage, and nutrition.

The Naturopathic philosophy is built on three main principles: the body has the power to heal itself; symptoms of disease are not the disease but are rather a sign that the body is trying to heal itself; and all treatments must be holistic.

Health is not seen as just an absence of disease. The focus for the Naturopath is on creating and preserving for each patient, a state of optimum health and vitality, called homeostasis.

Treatments may include yoga for stress management, fasting to cleanse the system, a vegetarian diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables, osteopathic treatments for structural problems, hydrotherapy for the circulation and general vitality, and even psychotherapy for emotional problems.

In its most simplistic form, naturopaths believe in four basics for good health; clean air, clean water, clean food from good earth, and exercise and right living.
